When it comes to weight loss, there are several common, persistent weight loss problems that can hold you back.
The biggest problem when it comes to losing weight is you! Although it sounds cruel and harsh to say, it is true. Losing weight is not just about how small of a number you see on the scale, rather it is about how good you feel about yourself and how healthy you feel. You can weigh 105 pounds and still feel unhealthy because you aren’t taking care of yourself. Having a positive attitude, proper motivation, and the confidence in yourself to get started all starts and ends with you.
Write a grocery list before going to the store. It’s also a good idea to eat before you go shopping. It has been proven that if you go to the grocery store hungry, you may end up buying extra junk food you don’t need. The first few times you go grocery shopping may be a little more difficult, so it is a good idea to also write a meal plan. You will need to plan out your meals for the next week. This includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. Once you have planned out your meals and written your list, it’s time to go shopping. You need to read the labels of everything before you put it in the cart. If there are more than 4 ingredients, ask yourself if you really need it. As a rule, remind yourself that more ingredients in something means it is less healthy.
Another common weight loss problem involves feeling overwhelmed about counting calories and staying on track. It may take some experimentation, but you will find a nutritious, tasty menu that fits your budget and your taste buds equally. With the wonderful internet and cell phone applications available, technology is making it easier to track your diet and exercise. If you do a quick internet search for a calorie counter, you will find many free sites you can sign up for. When signing up for a calorie counting site, it will ask for your current weight, height, and your desired weight. It will then automatically calculate the amount of calories you should eat in a day.
As you go through your day, you can quickly enter in the name of the foods you eat and it will calculate your caloric intake. Some of these programs also give you more information about your food, such as fat intake and some of your daily vitamin needs. Having this information with you at all times will be a constant reminder of your goals. Some of these sites also have forums where you can meet others who can offer support to help you with your goals.
